Official Un-Official Top-25, Pac-10 Picks: Week One

With the first games tipping off today, wanted to get the first poll out of the way as well as the Pac-10 picks.

  1. Michigan State
  2. Kansas
  3. Texas
  4. Purdue
  5. North Carolina
  6. Kentucky
  7. Duke
  8. Villanova
  9. West Virginia
  10. Connecticut
  11. Washington
  12. Ohio State
  13. Louisville
  14. Tennessee
  15. Georgetown
  16. California
  17. Butler
  18. Mississippi State
  19. Illinois
  20. Oklahoma
  21. Georgia Tech
  22. Florida State
  23. Minnesota
  24. Wake Forest
  25. Siena

I like Michigan State to win it this year because of the return of Kalin Lucas, Raymar Morgan, Delvon Roe, Durrell Summers, Chris Allen, and Draymond Green. The team just has so much talent with the motivation of last year’s championship game fresh in their memories.

Texas and Purdue are two teams who could play for the title. Texas brings in maybe the top recruiting class in the country, highlighted by local kid Avery Bradley. The Boilermakers return almost their entire core from a Sweet Sixteen team a year ago.

Georgetown is the team with the highest ceiling. The Hoyas could be carried by Greg Monroe his sophomore year, and with the Big East down a bit (but still the best conference in the country), they have a legitimate shot to win the conference.
